ZiYa 1.0 Privacy Policy
Effective date: September 12, 2026. Developer: 程锦方 (Cheng Jinfang). This policy covers ZiYa (字芽识字) version 1.0 for iPhone and iPad, voluntary support correspondence, and visits to this support website.
1. The app does not upload personal data to the developer
ZiYa requires no account and does not ask children or parents for names, birth dates, email addresses, phone numbers, or location. It contains no advertising, tracking, third-party analytics SDKs, or remote AI services. The app does not automatically send learning records, device identifiers, or usage analytics to developer servers, or sell or share local records for advertising.
Apple handles subscription purchases, renewals, restores, refunds, and transaction records. The developer does not receive payment-card information or collect a child’s identity through ZiYa. The app verifies Apple’s transaction on the device to determine the current entitlement; transaction verification does not upload learning records to the developer.
2. Learning data stored on your device
- Character progress, next review times, first introductions, and hint exposure times.
- Practice events, first-answer results, independent or assisted practice categories, and daily summaries used for statistics.
- Daily recommendation limits, automatic speech, pinyin preferences, parent-selected characters, and unfinished lesson positions.
- The calendar and time zone used for learning days, plus save format version. The time zone maintains consistent daily records and is not used for location tracking.
- Copies of original data retained when migrating older saves or encountering unreadable saves to avoid losing records.
This information stays in the app’s local storage (UserDefaults). An export creates a `.ziya` learning archive that a parent chooses to save or share. The app also keeps pre-operation and daily recovery copies in local Application Support. There is no developer-operated account or sync server. The developer cannot remotely inspect, restore, or delete learning records on your device.
Imported files are bounded and validated before confirmation. A confirmed import replaces the current device’s learning records, settings, selected characters, and unfinished lesson position as one archive; the app attempts to back up the current record first. Importing, restoring, or resetting records never grants subscription access; entitlements come only from verified Apple transactions.
3. Speech, permissions, subscriptions, and system services
ZiYa uses Apple’s system Mandarin voice to read built-in text. It does not record children’s voices, score speech, or request access to the microphone, camera, photos, contacts, or location.
ZiYa uses StoreKit to request product and transaction state from Apple and verifies transactions on the device to unlock subscription content. Plans are CNY 6 monthly, CNY 12 quarterly / 3 months, and CNY 36 yearly; the local price, currency, taxes, and final amount shown by the App Store are determined by Apple. Apple handles payment processing, auto-renewal, cancellation, and refunds; the developer does not access payment-card information.
System voice downloads, device backups, system diagnostics, and Apple services you choose to use are controlled by the system and your settings under Apple’s privacy policy. ZiYa does not implement iCloud sync; this does not mean app data is necessarily excluded from system device backups.
4. Children and parents
ZiYa is intended for learning with a parent or guardian. There are no child accounts, public profiles, chat, or upload features, and no requirement to provide a child’s identity. Parents should manage devices, Apple accounts, and backups and contact support themselves. The arithmetic gate reduces accidental access; it is not identity verification or data encryption.
5. Retention, reset, and deletion
Current learning records remain on the device until you reset progress or delete app data. Parent (家长) → Data management (数据管理) → Reset learning progress (重置学习进度), followed by confirmation, clears current progress, practice events, and hint records. Settings and selected characters from a readable save remain. Historical migration and recovery copies also remain. Subscription expiration, cancellation, or refund does not delete progress, history, calendar entries, or local recovery copies.
To remove app data on this device, including settings and historical recovery copies, use “Delete App” for ZiYa in system storage settings, rather than “Offload App,” which retains documents and data. Manage any existing iCloud or computer device backups separately in the relevant backup tool. Restoring an older backup may restore learning records. The developer has no copy of these local records.
6. Voluntary support correspondence
If a parent emails [email protected], we receive the sender’s address, message, and any attachments voluntarily provided. We use them only to respond, troubleshoot, and handle necessary security or legal matters, not for advertising. Email passes through the relevant mail providers. Do not send a child’s name, photos, school, complete learning history, or device backups.
Support correspondence is retained only as needed to resolve the issue and necessary follow-up matters. You may request access, correction, or deletion using the original contact email address. We will explain any applicable legal obligation requiring retention.
7. Visits to this website
The app’s learning and subscription features and this website have separate data handling contexts. These pages have no advertising, analytics scripts, or tracking cookies. Hosting and network services may process necessary request data such as IP address, request time, and browser information to deliver and secure the website. This does not include learning records from the app or payment-card information handled by Apple. Sending email is handled by your chosen email tool, and mail providers may retain delivery logs.
8. Contact and changes
For privacy questions or deletion of support information, contact [email protected]. If data handling changes, we will update this policy and its date and provide notice or request consent where required.
